Hi Everyone,
I am taking great pleasure to announce that Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology Cricket Club (ACC) has won their first match in the short history of APIIT Cricket Club. ACC won the first match in Tunku Imran Trophy from KLRhinos by 54 runs on Saturday 18th August 2001 at KTJ Mantin. Batting first ACC was able to pile up an impressive total of 147 runs.

ACC won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision that proved to be well thought as Kashif & Anand managed to get ACC of to a good start. Kashif, arguably ACC’s most consistent performer over recent times, came to the crease and added a stable influence to the ACC innings by scoring 20 runs, along with Anand they were able to keep the run rate reasonably high and put ACC in a strong launching position. Anand continued his indifferent form with the bat, managing 53 runs before being dismissed by Firdaus of KLRhinos. It left Fahad with a lot to do, but he rose to the occasion and made 8 runs with 1 huge six at long on that make keep things going after Kashif & Anand departure.

Waqas helped things along with some inventive sweeping and reverse-sweeping before falling just short of his double figures when he miscued a poor ball from Imtiaz into the hands of short gully.

ACC's middle to lower order was able to boost the strike rate. With Waqas hitting 8 runs at better then a run a ball, but Danish was there to remind everyone how gifted he is both bat and ball, playing a cameo innings of 24 runs, remaining not out at the end with ACC scoring 147 for 8 from their allotted 25 overs.

Khalid and Kashif opened with the bowling attack and pressurized the batsman with their good line and length with the bowl but unfortunity they were not able to take any wickets but gave a nice start to the team. Danish Ahmed continued his recent run of form, getting the ball to move in both directions as he dismissed Imtiaz, Johrea & Firdaus. Despite this KLRhinos still got off to a flyer, Zahari striking 25 runs before being dismissed by a piece of mastery by Anand. The tail managed to put on a show with each of them getting some runs except Firdaus & Amiza. KLRhinos was all out for 93 from 15.5 overs, with Anand & Danish starring once again with the ball. Anand was the most successful bowler to claim 4 wickets.

ACC captain Muhammad Waqas said :
"My team was eager to set the mood for the tournament. It was a perfect combination, we are looking forward for the next game that is against Silver State,"

ACC President Asrar Makrani said :
“I am very proud today this storming match, we have written a new chapter in the history of ACC activities. I can see the fruit of the nerve-breaking plantation of a seed in the heart of APIIT students. Keep up the good teamwork and spirit.”

ACC General Secretary Muhammad Anis Ur Rehman said:
